Riverside Commercial Masterplan

Proposed 2016 - Henan, China

A hybrid of large-scale, iconic architectural forms, and a more village-like, porous urban fabric, this project for three commercial blocks in Henan province aim to create a unique riverfront commercial experience to the entire city.

Comprise of elongated urban forms, the plan combines landscape and architectural planning to achieve an orthogonal porosity that connects the nearby residential neighborhoods with the waterfront.

Like a web, the interstitial public space creates poles and links that elegantly mesh into a network of exciting social opportunities for the local community, pushing the limits of conventional commercial spaces.
